If you are in business and things are not going smoothly, worry not! We all have times when we feel like giving it all up and ‘going off to find a proper job’. In fact, if you are in the first couple if years of business and you don’t feel like jumping of a cliff at times then you are sub-normal or super human!
I think it is almost obligatory to get pushed to the edge at times because that is when you are stretched the most and it is a real test of your resolve and character. No one said that running a business is easy and if they did, they were lying – well in my opnion anyway.
But, when you are at that moment when you feel like chucking it in, comfort yourself with the fact that it is totally normal and that you need to push through the pain and things will start to turn out right with a combination of determination and desire to succeed. Yes, you could go and get a job, but how would you feel if you gave it all up and went back to the day job. Imagine yourself sitting at a desk somewhere working for someone else and having to play by their rules. Get the picture?
So the message from me is, unless you have a better offer that you cannot refuse, think twice about giving up. Use your resolve and experience you have gained so far and remember that feeling when you first decided to ‘go for it’ – hang on to that to get you through the bad times and things will start to turn the corner. Have faith!
